Whitby Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, current and new, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content deals with applicable state, federal and provincial safety regulations. The training's first component involves comprehensive in-class instruction and test. After that is a hands-on customized session along with practical instruction and evaluation.
Course content applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting machinery. Particular instruction will concentrate on aspects of crane operation used at the workplace of the trainee. Upon finishing the course, trainees will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, related parts and attachments safely and efficiently.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator might develop while operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products can be avoided with right practices. Training reduces the chance of a workplace injury or incident happening.
The course will encompass approximately eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants are graded on their understanding of training material via an evaluation of their practical knowledge and written testing. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.
The in-class session, the trainee would learn about guidelines and legislation, causes of damages and occurrences, hazard awareness, internal responsibility, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, basic equipment and design principles, pre-shift equipment checks, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, pedestrian/operator safety, hitches and angles, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for slingers and operators.
The customized practical training and evaluation session should be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training component is one to two hours. Two operators at a time will be trained by the instructor about skills like for example safe operation, planning the lift and proper rigging practices.
After finishing both the in-class instruction and the practical training and evaluation, the trainee would be tested via an exam. Each participant will be required to sign the safety rules. Successful trainees will be provided with individual wallet certificates. A framed wall certificate would be provided to the company.
